Last Month….
We had a look at scanning and the types of scanners that are available. A
scanner is a device that captures images from photographic prints, posters,
magazine pages, and similar sources for editing and display. Scanners
come in hand-held, feed-in, flatbed types and for black-and-white only, or
colour.
Alan Danbury started the evening by giving us a brief history of scanners.
History of scanners
• The first commercial scanning device was in
1860’s and transmitted images over telegraph
wires
• By 1913 machines were available to use
telephone lines and became the fax machines
that we all remember
• Scanners connected to a computer came about
in 1980’s
