“Of course, not everything Sinclair created was a success. In 1985, he unveiled the Sinclair C5, a small elec-
tric vehicle. It looked like something out of a sci-fi film — lightweight, quiet, and futuristic. But the public
wasn’t ready for it. People worried about safety, the range was poor, and the media ridiculed it. The C5 was a
commercial disaster. Yet, looking back today, it was ahead of its time. We’re now living in an age where
electric vehicles are everywhere, and you could argue Sinclair was simply 30 years too early.”
“Failures aside, Sinclair’s legacy is undeniable. His computers helped democratise access to technology in
Britain. They encouraged creativity, gave birth to a booming video game industry, and inspired countless
young people to pursue careers in technology. He proved that you didn’t need to be wealthy or a giant corpo-
ration to bring innovation to life.”
