We have talked about the changes seen in computer peripherals but what
about inside the box?
The ubiquitous floppy drive and internal IDE hard drive connections have
now become redundant and replaced by SATA type drive connections.
There will probably be an integrated network connection. The parallel and
serial ports have now been consigned to history and there may well be
integrated video and sound chips built into the motherboard as standard.
No need to go and buy specific sound or video cards.
The card slots tend to be PCI express slots for greater speed and there is
an increased trend to installing solid state hard drives as internal storage.
As mentioned earlier, the latest motherboards can incorporate the latest
M2 drive technology. There may also be provision for multiple video con-
nections
