P. 4

Now for the new part… which will be quite brief… not too much ram-
bling (I hope – especially as my throat is not up to long speeches).

This year I thought that we should look a little closer at local issues:-

Basically - We need some more members, some fresh
          blood!

We have all (I hope) tried to get extra people to come along – and there
          have been successes.

However, it looks like the Melton Times entry has only produced two peo-
ple for one meeting in over a year.
I don’t recall that anybody new from U3A has put in an appearance.

Posters in the library didn’t attract anyone as far as I am aware.

So, our most recent new members are Mick and Dave …. we are grateful
that they came along and decided to stay.

In fact, both of the new members have been speakers here – which is
          great.
And that’s another issue – we (the committee) are running low on ideas
for topics and sometimes low on an audience.

So, for 2017 we really need to try and get some more people involved. If
you can spread the word at any other groups that you attend, that would be
          great.
Getting additional people with different interests would hopefully produce
talks on subjects that we have yet to come across.

Maybe we need to change the approaches we are currently pursuing, but at
the moment I’m not sure exactly what that would be… so if any of you
have some suggestions please come forward.
