Barry Gilchrist gave a presentation on using keyboard and search short
cuts to make a computer operating system respond more quickly. His ex-
amples were based on Microsoft Windows but apply similarly to Linux
and Mac systems. Barry is a professional developer for commercial soft-
ware and his examples were based on his working experience.
As always, there are multiple ways of doing tasks on a computer.
So today is about some basic understanding, short cuts and other areas

The mouse is slightly irritating – especially if I have been typing and now
have to switch to the mouse. Plus, the mouse is a sort of analogue device,
but the keyboard is more of a digital one. The mouse can move as you
click it, especially if you are trying to do things quickly – or selecting text
in a document can result in the wrong text if the mouse slips as you re-
lease the button.
