If you are a Gmail user (within Google Chrome) and want a thesaurus you
need to add it as an extension. To add a thesaurus > Customise & Control
(three vertical dots top right of toolbar)> More Tools>Extensions>Get
More Extensions> select Power Thesaurus. Installation is almost instant
and the thesaurus is available in the right click menu.
Find: Ctrl F can be used to find documents or files which have disap-
peared you know not where. You can specify search by date, file type, size
or key word to narrow down the resting place.
File search in Windows is provided by Windows Explorer. However this
can be slow compared to the alternatives. The quickest is Windows com-
mand line and DOS, but this is only familiar to those who grew up with
Microsoft pre-Windows. Alan suggested a useful stand alone file search
tool is Search My Files by nirsoft.net which is free.
When setting out with a new document or file decide whether you are
working with disposable or long term items. Disposable can be kept in a
TEMP folder, but Permanent items should be kept in a location of YOUR
choice which will help you to find it better next time. If you don’t make
either of these choices the system will have a default location for stuff
which may be difficult to find..
