If we now have data from many ‘things’ being sent
around the internet, how long before some of it is
used for nefarious activities.

These have nothing to do with IoT – it is just that any data that is
held some where for a reasonable purpose, is a potential target for
a hacker.
When these things collect the data – where is it sent… some serv-
er / data centre in the cloud!
How long is it kept for?
